Wraps & Trims |
Wrapping gifts for family and friends can be
one of the most enjoyable parts of the holiday season.
Instead of the same old store bought bows and ribbons -- why not
consider making your own out of a variety of textured fabrics, or
adding the leftover pieces of dried flowers, berries, and greens
from your wreaths and garlands. A plain section of kitchen
twine can be wrapped with ribbon and used as a base to glue small
decorative items as toppers for small gifts.

Nothing
shows the care you've taken to wrap a package like a crowning
bow. Follow these tips to tie a perfect bow.
1. Measure out and cut a length of
twisted paper ribbon about four times the desired width of the
finished bow; cut a smaller piece for a tie.
2. Before you make the bow, twist
open and spread out the long ribbon. Fold into a bow, as
shown, and tie the small piece of twisted ribbon around the
center; knot. Cut ends of center tie close to the knot, or
leave long for attaching bow to package.
3. Gently readjust the bow and bow
ends into the final shape you want. With scissors, trim both
of the bow ends into shallow V's.

Homemade
goodies can be wonderful treats to give as gifts to families and
friends. Beautiful wrapped cookies or candies can be used to
fill stockings as well. For great recipes and ideas
