Paper Boat Place Cards

Use the following template to make paper boats that will dress up the children's table and create a thanksgiving pilgrim fantasy.

1. Using construction paper (5 x 7 works best), fold paper in half, lengthwise, towards you.

2. Find the middle of the folded edge and mark with a pencil.  Fold at each side of the mark, so the corners meet and form a triangle.  There will be some paper remaining below the folds.

3. On both the front and back, fold the remaining paper up.

4. Holding each end of the triangle (see #4) push together so they touch and flatten so that it becomes diamond-shaped.

5. Now fold the front in half,  upwards and do the same to the back: Once again you should have a triangle.

6.  As in step 4, hold each end of the triangle and push together so they flatten (you will end up with a diamond shape again).

7. On each side of the diamond there will be a layer.  Take each layer and pull down.  This creates the boat.

8. Make a mast with a toothpick - poke through the sail (don't forget to write the name on it first) and insert in the middle of the boat.
