Starlight Wreaths
Makes
about
30 cookies
Ingredients:
Nonstick
cooking spray
1/2 batch of
sugar cookie dough or your favorite sugar cookie dough recipe,
refrigerated
1/4 cup
all-purpose flour
2 tbsp grated
lemon peel
30 round
peppermint candies
Directions:
Preheat oven to
350 degrees. Line two cookie sheets with foil and coat with nonstick
cooking spray. In medium bowl, work together cookie dough, flour and
lemon peel with wooden spoon until well blended.
Place peppermint
candies about 3 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets. With
measuring spoon, scoop out level teaspoons of dough mixture. To form
each cookie, roll one scoop of dough into a 5 inch long log, then roll
another log. Twist two lengths together; wrap in a circle around
candy, gently pinching ends together. Repeat with remaining dough.
Bake 6 to 8
minutes, or until cookies just begin to brown lightly (Watch carefully
because candies will melt too much if over baked). Let cookies cool
a few minutes on cookie sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool
completely. Store in airtight container at room temperature up to
one week or in freezer up to six months.
