Dried Fruit Compote

Ingredients:
1, 8-ounce pkg. mixed dried fruit
2-1/2 cups apple juice
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
4 tsp. cornstarch
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cream of tarter
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup whipping cream

Directions:
Cut dried fruit into bite-size pieces.
Combine dried fruit, apple juice, and nutmeg in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat. Simmer covered for 10 minutes or until fruit is soft.
Mix cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water. Add to fruit mixture. Heat while stirring until thickened and bubbly. Continue to heat for 2 minutes.
Stir in brown sugar and vanilla. Serve warm with the pastry or biscuit of your choice.
